It started with a piece of land nobody wanted — 80 acres of dense spruce and birch on a hillside outside Baddeck with no road access and no power. We saw something else: cold spring water bubbling up through granite, wild hops climbing the treeline, and enough quiet to actually think.
Six years later, we brew every batch with water from that same spring, grain from PEI and Annapolis Valley farms, and hops we grow ourselves on a south-facing clearing we carved out by hand. No investors. No production line. Just two people who left city jobs to make beer the slow way.
Our taproom is tucked into the woods at the end of a gravel road. Bring the family, bring the dog, and stay a while.
Wooden benches, string lights, a wood stove in the corner, and a patio that looks out over the Bras d'Or Lake. Order a flight, grab a seat by the fire pit, and let the kids run around on the grass. We have a small kitchen serving wood-fired flatbreads, smoked meats, and whatever the garden gives us that week.
Groups of 8+ are welcome but please book ahead so we can set up the long table. Private tastings and brewery tours available Thursday through Sunday — just ask at the bar.

Best brewery experience in Cape Breton, hands down. The Trail Head IPA is unreal and the setting — sitting on the patio watching the sunset over Bras d'Or — you can't beat it. We drove 2 hours and it was worth every minute.
Brought the whole family including the golden retriever. Kids played on the lawn, we tried the flight, and the wood-fired flatbread was incredible. Felt like visiting friends, not a business. Will be back every summer.

Starting April 5th, local musicians take the patio stage every Saturday from 3–6 PM. Bring a blanket, grab a pint, and enjoy the highland acoustics.
Join us April 12th for a guided walk through the property to forage spruce tips and wild herbs, then watch us brew a one-off seasonal ale with whatever we find.
